By-Laws

ARTICLE XII

RULES FOR AMENDING

SECTION I

Amendments to the Bylaws of this Union may be proposed by:
Revised May 24, 2001

1. A majority of the Board of Directors.

2. A Petition signed by twenty-five (25) members.

3. The Bylaws Committee.

Approved June 25, 1994

B. All proposed amendments approved by a majority of the Board or introduced by petition shall be presented to the Bylaws and Policies Committee by January 15.

C. A copy of all proposed amendments and any recommendations of the Bylaws and Policies Committee shall be presented to the Board no later than the regular monthly meeting in February. The Board will make any recommendations on the proposed amendments at its next regular meeting.

D. A copy of the proposed Bylaw amendments and any recommendations of the Board of Directors shall be presented to the Stewards Council at a regular meeting by March.

E. A final copy of the proposed Bylaws amendments and any recommendations of the Board of Directors shall be made available to each member at least twenty (20) days prior to consideration. Members shall be notified of changes and any recommendations in an official publication of OESPA at least twenty (20) days prior to consideration.

F. The final proposed Bylaws Amendments must be passed by a majority of the members voting on the proposed Bylaws Amendments.

G. Except when an amendment carries a separate effective date to the contrary, all amendments adopted by the membership shall become effective on June 25 following their adoption.
